From George Richards, former board member and president, a founding member of the Welsh folk dance troupe

2 cups all-purpose flour   4 tsp. cinnamon

1 cup granulated sugar   1 cup currants (half box)
1 tsp. baking soda   1 cup (2 sticks) butter
2 tsp. baking powder   2 eggs
1 tsp. salt   1/2 cup milk
3 tsp. nutmeg

Mix all dry ingredients.  Soften butter and cut into dry ingredients with a pastry cutter.

Beat eggs and milk together, add to dry ingredients until uniformly mixed.

Divide dough in half and chill.  Place half of dough on floured board or pastry cloth.

Roll out into 1/4 inch thickness.  Cut with 2 inch cookie or biscuit cutter.  Repeat with other half.  Set griddle or skillet on 325° or on stove over low heat.  Cook tea cakes for approximately 3 minutes until light brown.  Turn once.  Do not overcook.  (George uses a Teflon skillet with no grease).

Yield: 6-7 dozen

The most recent articles added to our website’s Newspaper page relate to upcoming events in Wales.

2010 will be the long awaited Ryder Cup at Newport’s Celtic Manor Resort. Golfing fans will not only see the world class golfing facilities, they can enjoy the Roman Baths of Caerleon and visit the Brecon Beacons while visiting Wales’s newest city this October.

While 2016 is still a good ways off, beginning in April this year you can take advantage of the preparations for the 2016 Olympics when visiting Cardiff.  White water rafting and canoe slalom courses will be open to the public as well as being used for training by the Olympic participants.

A recent Links page addition is for S4 Croeso – a Welsh TV station.  I have seen Rugby games, watched and heard choirs perform, and viewed beautiful scenery when I’ve been on this site.  (depending on your computer settings, this may run automatically or you may need to decide whether or not to download an ‘add-on’.)

Please keep checking our website’s Events page for information about WSCO events as well as those of the Welsh Country Dancers and the Columbus Welsh Singing Society.
