CWSS Upcoming Performances

The Columbus Welsh Singing Society, under the direction of Ann Gillard, has several performances scheduled.  They will be performing at the WSCO picnic on Saturday, July 18 at Blendon Woods (see article on front page) and then will be joining in with the rest of the picnic-attendees for a sing-along.  On Sunday, August 9, they will be appearing at 7 pm at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, public welcome, and Tuesday, September 15, they will be at Oakleaf Village.

Welsh Country Dancers of Central Ohio

Donna Boyce

The Welsh folk dance troupe performed at two festivals recently.  On Saturday, May 16, we presented a 30-minute performance at the Lancaster Celtic Festival in Lancaster, OH, where WSCO had a booth. We thank our friends Jason Morgan, who graciously agreed to fill in as our Sound Tech, and Tegwyn Lantz, who took pictures.  Besides demonstrating the dances of Wales, we include in the commentary Welsh words and information about the dance formations and the names of the dances.

On Saturday May 30th we were at Maize Valley Farm in Hartville, OH where we performed and taught dances at the Celtic Beltane Festival, sponsored by the Scottish American Society.  This was their fifth annual festival and the WCDCO troupe is proud to have participated in the event all five years.  We are always greeted by an enthusiastic group and a number of volunteers are eager to participate in the dances we teach.  The dancers think the event is well worth the nearly 3-hour drive to get there.

Welsh folk dancing classes will not meet during July and August -- classes will resume Sept. 2.

There is dancing planned for the WSCO picnic, Saturday, July 18 (see article on page 1).
