On the Move

Two days after the September big winds blew through central Ohio, Charlotte Prior flew off to California to visit her sister for a week. The Priors were in and out of town so much between Spring and Autumn that Stanton said they hadn’t been able to put the suitcases away!

Missed in the Last Issue ...

Your Absent-minded Editor overlooked one of her notes last issue and forgot to congratulate Dianne Williams on the article about her and her “foodie friends”, The Spice Ladies, in the July 2008 edition of Ohiomag.com.  WSCO picnic attendees for the past two years have had a chance to bid on a copy of the Spice Ladies’ cookbook, Living in Cin-namon, during the WSCO auction.  The article was still online at the time this newsletter went tothe printer --http://ohiomag.com/magazine/home&garden/article.asp?id=7BD926376C3046BC8C553C42BE6BD94B&page=1.

In the last issue, in the Member Highlights paragraph listing the WSCO members and friends who went on the bus trip to Venedocia, I identified the attendees who had “roots” in the area.  I mentioned that Marian Davis was at the gymanfa (although not on the bus trip with us), but I did not know at the time that she also has strong ties to Venedocia.

Marian wrote to say: “Half of my family -- the Thomas side -- is from the Venedocia area, and our 150-year-old family homestead, Mill Pond Farms, is still in existence just outside of town (photo featured on venedocia.org website).  And in the Venedocia cemetery are the graves of my great-grandparents, Anna Morris Thomas and Robert Richards Thomas, who was a very famous choral director in the area "back in the day."  My 82-year-old cousin, David Hugh Evans, lives just down the street from the church and always hosts an "afterglow" party immediately following the Gymanfa, which is always so much fun.”

WSCO Membership Year

If you pay dues annually, your dues expired Dec. 31st.

To help eliminate confusion regarding WSCO’s membership “year” for those who pay annual dues, the Board switched to a calendar year from the long-standing March 1st through the end-of-the-next February timeframe.  This practice started in 2008.

Annual members are kept on our mailing list for one year past their dues expiration date and continue to receive Dragon Tales during that year.

A membership form can be found on the WSCO website, http://www.welshsocietyofcentralohio.org.

If your dues for next year are received by February 15th, you will be included in the membership roster which will be distributed the day of our St. David’s Day luncheon. Those not attending will be sent their copy of the roster.
