The CWSS has had an enjoyable holiday season. On November 30th we had the pleasure of singing at the Welsh-American Heritage Museum in Oak Hill for their annual Advent celebration. Our chorus sang a program of Christmas songs and several familiar hymns, with the audience joining us. We were entertained by a children’s chorus and a story by Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus in person! We then led the audience in a sing-a-long of Christmas songs and carols. A lovely Te Bach followed the program. It was a delightful afternoon, in spite of an all day down-pouring rain.
On December 16th we entertained at Wesley Glen with a mixed program of Christmas songs, hymns and Welsh folk songs. Our concert was well received by a large audience. For this concert, instead of rain, we were faced with an ice storm! We Welsh singers are a strong and sturdy group – bad weather does not slow us up. We had 16 members in attendance at Oak Hill and 18 at Wesley Glen.
We will be singing at the Memorial Day Services in Radnor, Ohio, on Monday May 25th. The day will start with a breakfast at the Radnor Congregational Church (United Church of Christ), followed by a parade and the services at the cemetery. There will be an ox roast at the community center. It will be a heart warming day – filled with both fun and inspiration. All WSCO members are invited, and it’s a great opportunity to experience an old-fashioned Memorial Day in a real Welsh community.
We welcome anyone who would like to join our group. We meet on most first and third Tuesday evenings from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at the Worthington Methodist Church, 600 N. High St., Worthington, Ohio, 3rd floor.
