The CWSS has been busy learning new songs and getting ready for the upcoming performances. We will be singing at several weddings this summer and a concert at the Kensington Place (Lutheran Village) on July 29th.
We presented a concert at Friendship Village of Columbus on February 19, which was enjoyed by a large audience, and on March 15th participated in a Celtic Festival held at the Gillie Senior Recreation Center. The Gillie G-Clef Chorus presented a program of Irish songs and the CWSS gave a Welsh concert. The audience was also entertained by bagpiper James Lloyd Dean. An Irish luncheon was served before the concert and a Te Bach closed the festivities.
We were honored on May 3rd to sing at a "Celebration of Life" gathering for Olwyn Detrich, a lady of Welsh descent who had passed away the previous week. Olwyn was a cousin of CWSS member, Gwen Baxter, and was very proud of her Welsh heritage. It was a beautiful and touching get-together and we were proud to have been a part of it.
At the July WSCO picnic, CWSS will sing several songs and then will lead everyone in singing some favorite hymns. We will provide phonetic song sheets so that everyone can sing in Welsh. Bring your hymnals and there will be a few to loan out.
We always welcome new members into our chorus. If you are interested, please call WSCO at (614) 470-4999 or E-mail me at j-gillard[at]sbcglobal[dot]net.
Best wishes and keep singing!
