Homer was doing a great job as president and I [we] expected him to continue for another year so was surprised when he decided to step down and the board followed his recommendation for me to serve as president this year. Of course it's an honor but the board knows that others in other positions are much more deserving to be recognized in those positions for the outstanding work they do on behalf of our 250+ membership.
I'm a retired architect; have 3 children [my wife is deceased], 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild. My Welsh expertise is in "Little Cardiganshire", the Welsh in Gallia / Jackson counties. All of my great-great-grandparents on my dad's side emigrated from Cardiganshire in Wales to that area: John Alban/Mary Morgan 1834, David Evans/Ann Evans 1839, Thomas Jenkins/Leah Evans 1841, John Jones/Jane Jones 1852. My mom and dad grew up in the area and my family has the farm where my mother grew up. "Little Cardiganshire" has always been "home".
If my ancestors are also your ancestors, let me know.

Our website has recently expanded to include a page of links to Welsh-related items of interest.
One advertiser is someone you will remember from our St. David's Day seminar, Chris Watkins. If you missed the opportunity to attend the seminar on carving Welsh love spoons or to purchase one of Chris' hand-carved spoons, go to http://www.centralohiowelsh.org to access his web site via our Links page. In addition to advertisers we have included links to various organizations such as the Madog Center for Welsh Studies, the National Welsh-American Foundation and the Welsh-American Genealogical Society.
If you find websites of Welsh interest that you would like to recommend to our membership, please email me the link to review – Hiraeth[at]att[dot]net.
We are continuing to add Welsh news items to the Welsh Newspaper page of our site that we launched in February.
I have learned many interesting things about Wales as I have gathered items for this page. Hope you are enjoying the articles.
Don’t miss our third new page – Other Events of Interest – which covers non-WSCO happenings. You’ll find the link at the bottom of the Events page.
Please check us out.

Your newsletter editor owes many, many thanks to Carole Edwards Haley for her kitchen table, her camaraderie and sense of humor, and her help with processing the newsletters for mailing. We have now worked together folding, labeling, securing and stamping (not to mention stuffing registration forms and dues renewal letters) for two years. Diolch yn fawr, Carole -- it’s my turn to bring the cheese.
I hope you all enjoy this, my 6th, issue of DT.
