Columbus Welsh Singing Society

Ann Gillard

The CWSS has welcomed nine new members. We are delighted to be joined by: Maria (Mabli) Teresa Agozzino, Stacy and Cheryl Evans, Marshall and Mary Ann Kammerud, Tom and Leslie Twigg, and Matthew and Janine Wilson.  All of these folks bring a lot of talent to our group.

We presented a concert at the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in June. The hour-long program contained both hymns and folk songs, sung in both Welsh and English. I even taught the mixed audience a song chorus in Welsh and was pleased with the level of participation.

The WSCO picnic in July gave us another opportunity to perform and we enjoyed having everyone join us in some favorite hymns.

We have “open to the public” performances at three local retirement communities coming up on Oct. 29, Nov. 20, and Dec. 18 – details are in a separate article on page 4.

Our chorus is available for weddings, funerals, parties, church services or any other celebration. We are starting to work on our holiday music and will be adding more favorites to our program.

The CWSS invites anyone who is interested in learning to sing Welsh music to join us.  We work hard, but also have a lot of fun.  Practices are on Tuesdays, from 7 – 8:30 pm. (summer is 1st Tuesdays only, and starting in October it is 1st & 3rd) at the Worthington Methodist Church, 600 N. High St., Worthington, Ohio.

For more information about practices sessions or if you are interested in having the chorus sing for you, contact Ann Gillard, chorus director, at (614) 470-4999 or email A-gillard[at]sbcglobal[dot]net.

Upcoming practices: 2007 -- Oct. 2 and 16, Nov. 6, and Dec. 4; 2008 – Jan. 15, Feb. 5 and 19, Mar. 4 and 18
